It occurred to me that while images of cute puppies abound, rarely spotlighted are the wizened countenances of the senior group. You know, the dogs that helped us raise our kids, and after a good butt sniff, welcomed our grandkids too?
Where are the adorable snapshots that capture the unique facial expressions of our loyal, gray-muzzled, canine friends who stuck by us as we struggled through illness? Who noticed when they sat steadfast at our feet as we burned the midnight oil? Who pulled out a cell phone camera and pointed it at them as they celebrated with us– tongues lolling, tails wagging– when we got something right. And for the thousands of times we didn’t, who thanked them for not judging?
